YOGA FOR EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE
April 21, 2018
AREA Brooklyn Heights
Resilience is the ability to adapt well in the face of adversity, tragedy, trauma or stress. It encompasses the ability to efficiently manage strong feelings and impulses, maintain a positive view of oneself, and develop a realistic yet hopeful perspective. Without the practice of resilience, we suffer from chronic stress, anxiety or depression. The good news is that we can cultivate resilience – emotionally and physically – through the practice of yoga and meditation.
Mindfulness-based practices such as yoga and meditation are increasingly recognized within the medical community as effective self-management tools for emotional wellness. Join medical researcher and yoga instructor Janel Martir to learn how to cultivate emotional and physical resilience!
Expect a guided meditation intended to induce mental and physical resilience, a mindful flow yoga practice designed to calm the mind and energize the body, and a series of gentle breath-work exercises combined with loving-kindness meditation to cultivate self-compassion.
